'nJIM Engine' means 'Newton Japanese Input Method Engine'. And that is core software for all nJIM software packages. This engine software supplies your Newton with Japanese string conversion functions,that are [Alphabet/Hiragana/Katakana] translation to [Hiragana/Katakana/Kanji].

All Newton models that are running Newton OS 2.0 or laster. Newton OS 1.x is not supported.

• Kana Dic (Kana Dic.pkg)

  [Alphabet -> Hiragana/Katakana] conversion table for nJIM Engine.

• Kanji Dic(Small) (KanjiDic(Small).pkg)

  [Hiragana -> Kanji] string conversion table for nJIM Engine.

  This table has about 2600 indexes that have 6000 kanji words.

  240KByte free space memory to install.

• Kanji Dic(Small)(Pressed (KanjiDic(Small)(Pressed).pkg)

  This file is compressed format version. If your Newton does not enough memory space, please use this. But this version is more slowly for searching index table than original file, and use more battery power.

  120KByte free space memory to install.

• If you want to use full Japanese [Hiragana/Katakana/Kanji], you must install the following files
  • nJIM Engine.pkg
  • Kana Dic.pkg
  • KanjiDic(Small).pkg

• If you want to use [Hiragana/Katakana] only, you install the following files
  • nJIM Engine.pkg
  • Kana Dic.pkg

• Kanji(Small).pkg and Kanji(Small)(Pressed).pkg are not installed same Newton, please install only one package.

• But....after installing the above files to your Newton, you can not input Japanese text. Those files are function service core engines, so your must install Japanese Input Method interface program for nJIM to your Newton.
